A Theothanatological Extravaganza!

In a recent interview with The Observer, Slavoj Zizek  says that he is quitting “the Zizek show.” This, of course, doesn’t mean that Zizek will be leaving the philosophical scene, but simply getting on with his true life’s work, namely, the mega-book that he is currently writing about “Hegel with regard to Plato, Kant and maybe Heidegger.”; for Zizek, “it is a true work of love,” even adding (quite surprisingly), “Lacan is just a tool for me to read Hegel.” While the article is very insightful apropos of the life and mind of Zizek, the reason for this post is to point you to a video posted by the guys over at AUFS of a discussion between Thomas J. J. Altizer and Slavoj Zizek entitled, “Wither the ‘Death of God’: A Continuing Currency?,” from the 2009 meeting of the American Academy of Religion. I cannot be more emphatic about the importance of some of the things that Zizek says in this video. If one wishes to participate in  serious philosophical, theological, etc., discourse, I sincerely encourage you not to take what he says with indiffernce.
